A gorgeous Blue heeler puppy has spent the day as an honorary Queensland police dog after being rescued from her owner.

Honey can be seen wearing a police harness as she sits obediently next to PD Radar posing for a photo that will bring a tear to your eye.

She also took a particular liking to one female officer, flopping over her and using her paw to hold on to her arm, clearly loving the affection.

Honey was rescued after officers spotted her allegedly being abused while being walked by her owner. 

Officers saw her allegedly being tackled to the ground and punched after breaking free of her lead. 

Honey’s right eye was allegedly injured in the incident.

She was later seized from the home of a 36-year-old man in Ravenshoe, in far north Queensland at 5.15pm on June 6.

Police bodycam footage showed her visibly scared as she ran to the safety of officers. 

Her owner was charged with animal cruelty offences and is set to appear at Atherton Magistrates Court on July 6. 

Honey was handed over to council officers who are investigating the incident.
