Holiday-starved Australians are putting a remote beach on the northern tip of Western Australia at the top of their bucket lists.
Turquoise Bay has been enthralling travellers since it was featured in a TikTok video by Sydney photographer, Adam Rikys, who regularly spotlights off the beaten track destinations on his social media accounts.
The beach, 1,310 kilometres north of Perth, was in February ranked the world’s sixth most beautiful beach as part of TripAdvisor’s Traveller’s Choice Awards – and it’s not hard to see why.

The bay’s sparkling water offers world-class snorkelling, with coral, fish, turtles, and other intriguing sea creatures clearly visible just metres from the white sand shore.
The beach served as the backdrop for a recent Ark Swimwear campaign that featured top Aussie models including Natalie Roser.
The bay is often plagued by strong currents, so anyone wanting to dip into the sea is advised to be cautious.
Mr Rikys’ video of the beach, which has been viewed 15,200 times since it was uploaded online on July 17, quickly drew widespread praise.

‘Aw that it just beautiful,’ one woman replied.
A second said: ‘We go here every year and it never gets old.’
Another called it ‘the best beach I have ever been to’.
Last week, Mr Rikys featured another remote beach on his TikTok account which he called ‘the best beach you’ve probably never heard of’.
Flaherty’s Beach near Point Turton, 232 kilometres west of Adelaide, has crystal clear water and pristine white sand that looks more like something you’d expect to see in the Maldives than on a peninsula in South Australia.

Flaherty’s is one of the few South Australian beaches you can drive onto, but it’s only suitable for 4WD vehicles.
Dogs are also allowed on the beach, making the ‘hidden gem’ a favourite among local families.
Comments on Instagram describe the location as ‘breathtaking’ and reminiscent of a tropical island.

‘Went here after lockdown in November, absolutely gorgeous beach,’ said a second, while a third added: ‘Wowww this is amazing.’
Another called it the ‘best beach in Australia’ as others tagged their friends saying: ‘We need to go here.’
