The internet star, 26, is bidding to do the impossible and defeat the unbeaten boxing icon, who boasts a 50-0 record from his glittering career inside the ring, when they meet in Miami in an exhibition on Sunday night.

Paul has fought once professionally, losing to YouTuber KSI in a split decision defeat in November 2019. Despite this, he fancies his chances against his 44-year-old rival.

Paul and younger brother Jake, 24, have made their mark in boxing since chancing their arm at the sweet science in 2018, with Jake set to fight former UFC champion Tyron Woodley in his fourth professional bout this summer.

Jake has been linked with a dust-up with Tommy Fury, younger brother of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson, although the American has dismissed the Briton’s credentials to face him.

‘I am so ready for Floyd but one boxer I don’t want to fight is Tyson Fury,’ the American said ahead of his eight-round exhibition this weekend. 

‘He pitched me in my DM’s and said my brother can fight Tommy Fury and I can fight him.

‘But I was like, no I’ll pass.’

Paul is expected to pocket a huge payday from his clash with Mayweather, the self-proclaimed king of pay-per-view.

The American has been blown away by the attention heading into his fight on Sunday, but remains confident that he has what it takes to cause a huge upset and beat Mayweather.

‘This whole thing is just so crazy, we have already defied the odds,’ he said. ‘When my manager asked if I wanted to fight Floyd Mayweather I just laughed.

‘But I will never laugh at him again. I can’t believe all this but I am determined to put on a show.

‘They can say it’s an exhibition but I am ready to fight. I really do believe that people will be surprised at my skills.

‘I am that dude, the guy who does something no-one else thinks they can do. That’s been me my whole life, I am here to achieve the impossible. Sunday night will be an extension of that.’
