The incident happened as the car drove down I-77 near Charlotte.
According to an unidentified witness, the incident originally began as a fight between two men at the Circle K on North Graham.

Shocking footage recorded on a mobile phone later shows him hanging on as a vehicle speeds down I-77.
The witness who recorded the video told local outlet FOX 46: ‘I see a cluster of cars, I tried to go around them but there were a lot of cars after I got next to them, I seen a guy on the hood of a car.
The witness did not dial 911 to report the incident.
‘I was on my way to work, and I figured someone else would have because there were a lot of people.’
‘I tried to go around them but there were a lot of cars,’ said the witness.
‘After I got next to them I seen a guy on the hood of the car. The man was terrified.’
According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD), they did not receive any calls about the man clinging onto the hood of the car.
