England and Arsenal star Bukayo Saka leaves fans in stitches after trying his hand at golf

‘Golf definitely isn’t for you!’: Bukayo Saka is the butt of his England team-mates’ jokes as he takes TWO air shots in a row with hardly any back swing… and gets mocked by golf-mad Harry Maguire and Co

  • Bukayo Saka won plenty of plaudits following his starring role vs Czech Republic
  • Now the Arsenal star is preparing for England’s last-16 Euros clash with Germany
  • But during some downtime at England’s HQ, the teenager tried his hand at golf
  • But it’s fair to say the England youngster won’t be taking up golf anytime soon

In his short football career to date, Bukayo Saka has shown that he is a man of many talents for both Arsenal and England.

Saka has already become one of Arsenal’s go-to men while he has burst onto the scene in style with England, and won the Man of the Match award as the Three Lions overcame the Czech Republic in their final group encounter at the Euros.

And as he continues to revel in his stand-out display against the Czechs, Saka has been enjoying some downtime at England’s HQ by trying his hand at golf.

But it’s safe to say that Saka’s football qualities definitely don’t translate over to the golf course.

England team-mate Harry Maguire posted a video on his Instagram story of Saka attempting to hit – attempting is the key word – at a golf simulator at the Three Lions’ St George’s Park training base.

But hilariously in the video, Saka misses the ball altogether on his first attempt with a very short back swing before another air shot.

Saka finally made contact on his third try, but only tamely hitting it low to the right. But despite his best efforts, Maguire certainly wasn’t letting him get away with it.

Alongside a laughing emoji, the Manchester United centre back captioned his video: ‘Golf definitely isn’t for you.’

Maguire’s video left many fans in stitches, with one fan writing on Twitter alongside laughing emojis: ‘I love this guy so much man – just watch him trying to play golf.

‘You’re a joker @BukayoSaka87!. It’s lucky he’s slightly better at football than he is at golf.’

Another fan simply described the video as ‘gold’ while one social media user joked: ‘Finally something he isn’t good at.’

One supporter was in disbelief at just how bad Saka’s efforts were, writing on Twitter: ‘He can’t be serious’, while another fan gave him some friendly tips: ‘Have a full swing bro.’

Fortunately for Saka, he can soon let his football do the talking again as he gears up for England’s mouth-watering clash against Germany next Tuesday at Wembley.

Germany set up the last-16 clash with England after finishing second in a tricky Group F following a 2-2 draw against Hungary in their last game on Wednesday.

While the golf simulator has proved a smash hit with the England players, a group planned a proper round of golf in between the matches against the Czech Republic and Germany.

Maguire told the FA’s Diary Room: ‘We’ve got six or seven days until our next game so we can have a few days resting and recovering.

‘A few of us will be going out to play golf. Me, Stonsey (John Stones), Pickers (Jordan Pickford), Walks (Kyle Walker)… Tripps (Kieran Trippier) will all get involved and Harry (Kane) will play as well, I think.

‘It’s a good school and we’re going to get out and have some fun and lose many balls.’

The England players are taking part in a golf chipping challenge to win a signed football or shirt for supporters as part of the Lions’ Den YouTube programme during the tournament.

Mount hit a hole in one on the challenge and earned five points overall, earning his fan a signed ball and a signed shirt. Stones scored three points for a signed ball.
