Undeterred Aston Villa ‘considering SECOND bid for Arsenal’s Emile Smith Rowe’ despite seeing initial £25m offer turned down with Gunners keen to tie playmaker down with new contract

  • Arsenal rejected their initial £25m bid with Gunners adamant he is not for sale
  • The Midlands outfit are keen to add to attacking options for next season
  • They could lose star man Jack Grealish, as Manchester City plan £100m bid

Aston Villa are reportedly set to offer a second bid in their ambitious move for Arsenal playmaker Emile Smith Rowe.

Sportsmail reported earlier this month that Villa had seen a £25million bid rejected for the 20-year-old, with Arsenal adamant he is not for sale at any price and want to tie him down to a new deal as he enters the final two years of his contract.

But the Midland outfit seem to be undeterred in their approach and are set to go in for an ambitious second bid as they look to bolster their attacking options, according to the Express and Star.

Meanwhile, they could be preparing for life after Jack Grealish with Manchester City set to table a Premier League record £100million bid, though Villa are desperate to keep their captain and are set to offer him a new contract.

It has been an impressive breakout season for Smith Rowe at Arsenal after an increased run in the side by Mikel Arteta mid-season, scoring four goal and recording eight assists.

Villa have already secured a club record £36m move for Emi Buendia from Norwich and a return for Ashely Young this summer, with Dean Smith also keen to add more to their attacking options.

The report indicates the Villans are planning for incomings to work alongside Grealish rather than to replace him, with Dean Smith eager to ease the creative burden on their star man.

But Sportsmail reported yesterday that City are convinced the £100m will be enough to convince Villa to sell Grealish after Euro 2020, while the prospect of playing Champions League football could sway the 25-year-old from his boyhood club.

Villa remain keen for Grealish to lead a return to the top echelons of English football and, backed by billionaire owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens, are set offer Grealish an improvement on his £125,000-per-week deal he signed last summer.

Real Madrid are also believed to have shown interest in Smith Rowe, who could use Arsenal’s No1 target Martin Odegaard as a way to prising him to the Bernabeu.
