Barnsley are poised to appoint Austrian Markus Schopp as their new manager.
The 47-year-old has recently extended his contract at TSV Hartberg, but is understood to have an escape clause set at around £300,000.
Championship Barnsley missed out on promotion to the top flight last season under Valerien Ismael as they were knocked out in the play-off semi-finals by Swansea and Ismael left last week to take over at West Brom after they paid £2million in compensation.

Ismael has replaced Sam Allardyce at West Brom after taking the Tykes to the play-offs
Schopp, a former Austria international midfielder, has previously coached at Sturm Graz and also enjoyed a successful playing career.
He broke into Sturm Graz’s first team in 1991 and spent five years at his hometown club before a couple of seasons at Hamburg.
Schopp then returned to Sturm Graz, where he won the Austrian Bundesliga in 1999, before a switch to Italy and Brescia followed in 2001.
Schopp enjoyed a successful playing career as a midfielder and made 56 caps for Austria
His final permanent club was Red Bull Salzburg, before he retired in 2007 at the age of 33 due to chronic back problems following a loan spell with the New York Red Bulls.
He made 56 caps for Austria, scoring six times, and was in the squad for the 1998 World Cup as Herbert Prohaska’s team finished third in Group B behind Chile and Italy.
