  • A mum has made an incredible cake that looks identical to a KFC bucket meal
  • Tracey, from New South Wales, made the dessert for her son’s 34th birthday
  • The cake looked so realistic her son walked right past it thinking it was chicken

A creative Australian mum has tricked her son and the internet with her incredibly realistic cake that closely replicates the look of a KFC bucket meal.

Tracey, from the Central Coast in New South Wales, made the cake for her son’s 34th birthday using Coles mud cakes, LCM bars, Cadbury Caramilk chocolate and Crunchy Nut cornflakes.

The cake, which had been place in the living room, looked so identical to the takeaway meal her son walked right past it.

To accompany the KFC cake, Tracey also replicated the potato and gravy using Coles ready-made buttercream icing and Caramel sauce as well as KFC hot chips using madeira cake.

‘He goes, “Where is it?” I said, “You just walked past it”,’ she told news.com.au. ‘He’s like, “That’s chicken”, and I said, “No, that’s your cake”.’

To mimic the look of the crunchy chicken pieces, the LCM bars and pieces of white chocolate mud cake were first dipped in melted Caramilk chocolate then rolled in Crunchy Nut cornflakes.

Three $4.80 Coles mud cakes were stacked on top of each other and an original KFC chicken bucket was saved to use.

The cake took an hour and a half to assemble and Tracey spent a total of $35 on ingredients.

After sharing an image of the cake to a popular Facebook group, Tracey fooled hundreds who also thought the cake was a KFC meal.

‘Are you sure that’s not a bucket of KFC? Amazing job,’ one person wrote.

‘That is insanely realistic, how you did that’s phenomenal,’ another said.

A third added: ‘Very impressive! The best attempt I’ve seen of this ever, great job.’
