Gibb is the only surviving brother of the iconic singing group famed for its silky smooth harmonies and Barry’s signature falsetto.

He was the elder brother of twins Robin Gibb, who died in 2012, and Maurice Gibb, who died in 2003.

Following their deaths, Gibb embarked on a solo career and released his latest album, Greenfields, in January this year.

In an interview with Time Magazine that month, Gibb admitted that he felt ‘survivor’s guilt’ for outliving his younger siblings, including Andy Gibb, who died in 1988 at age 30.

Andy was never a member of the chart topping band, but he did enjoy success in the late 70s with a solo career.

‘I’m the eldest, so it should have been me first. I guess it’s a form of guilt. Survivor’s guilt,’ he said.

He also expressed regret that he had not been getting on with any of his brothers when they died.

The Bee Gees formed in the late 1950s and enjoyed two distinct periods of commercial success: first as a Beatles-influenced pop band and later as leading avatars of the disco movement, particularly on the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack that achieved global fame.

Unlike most pop acts, the band wrote and co-produced all of their own hits.

The band enjoyed phenomenal success in the disco era of the 1970s, consistently topping the singles charts and racking up huge album sales.
