A 3.9 magnitude earthquake sent shockwaves through California‘s Bay Area on Monday night.
The earthquake was reported at about 6.40pm local time, according to the US Geological Survey.
It was initially rated a 4.2 but was downgraded to 4.0 and then 3.9.
It’s epicenter was estimated about 1.8 miles north of San Lorenzo in Alameda County, about 20 miles southeast of San Francisco, at a depth of 6.5 miles.
There were no initial reports of injuries or damage.

‘This was enough to make you sit up and think twice,’ KCBS Radio journalist Holly Quan said after she felt the tremors in Oakland.
Quan’s colleague Matt Bigler, who was in San Leandro when he felt the quake, added: ‘We felt it pretty strongly.’
‘I was washing dishes and all of a sudden the kitchen swaying rolling back and forth. It was kind of a rolling from one side of the house to the other.’
Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) said its trains would run at reduced speeds while tracks are inspected.
