Others say that they have been forced to watch the corner on repeat and some are not able to get onto the coverage at all.

And as the clock struck nine, Love Island fans trying to access ITV2 took to social media to share their fears they would miss the launch.

One tweeted: ‘@ITV WE DON’T HAVE TIME FOR THIS!!!!’

Another added: ‘Why is itv hub down 4 MINUTES BEFORE LOVE ISLAND STARTS.’

Someone else joked there could not be a ‘more millennial problem’ than having to rely on a streaming platform ‘because you don’t have the ability to watch live TV’.

Another added: ‘Lol someone at ITV Hub is getting fired. How can the hub not be working on the evening of Love Island starting? Shambles.’

The broadcaster has been sharing coverage of the Euros 2020 tournament with the BBC, splitting the games equally, although ITV has bagged most of the England matches.

The issue appears to only be affecting the online Hub service, while normal TV coverage is working as normal.

The BBC has also received considerable criticism for its coverage of Euro 2020, in the wake of Christian Eriksen’s collapse on the pitch during the match between Denmark and Finland.

The coverage became one of the most complained-about moments in TV history, but the BBC said that it had no control over the footage, which was provided by Uefa.
