Juventus ‘lining up a move for Chelsea target Erling Haaland as Cristiano Ronaldo’s replacement next summer’… while Borussia Dortmund star says he’s ‘looking forward’ to working with Marco Rose ahead of new season

  • The Serie A giants are preparing to make a move for the 20-year-old in 2022
  • They view Haaland as a potential long-term replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo

Juventus have reportedly registered an interest in signing Erling Haaland but the Borussia Dortmund star insists he is keen to work with Marco Rose next season.

The Norwegian forward – who scored 41 goals in 41 games for Dortmund last season – has become one of the most sought after strikers in Europe, gaining the attention of Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester City this summer.

However, Serie A giants Juventus are preparing to make a move for Haaland in 2022, when the striker will be available for a discounted price.

As it stands, Dortmund are demanding at least £150million to let Haaland go this summer. Whereas next year the striker will be available for just £65m, once a clause in his contract is activated.

Therefore, according to La Repubblica, Juventus have identified Haaland as a long-term replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo – who is out of contract next summer.

But Haaland himself as insisted his focus is on working with new boss Rose, who joined from Borussia Moenchengladbach earlier this summer.

The 20-year-old told Stadium Astro: ‘I talked a little bit with new manager Marco Rose. I know him from before because I had six months with him in Salzburg. He’s a nice guy and I look forward to working with him.’

However, Juve could miss out on the 20-year-old’s signature if Chelsea are able to push a deal over the line this summer.

Chelsea’s interest in signing Haaland dates back to March, when Sportsmail revealed that the Blues, Real Madrid and Manchester City were the three main clubs interested in the young forward.

When the season ended at the end of May and beginning of June, the Blues then opened talks with Dortmund over Haaland’s availability, with Chelsea hearing that they could end up paying as much as £170m for him.

Earlier this week, reports in Germany claimed that Roman Abramovich had freed up the funds for the Blues to go and get Haaland for £150m, though they would need to include one of Hakim Ziyech, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Tammy Abraham as part of the deal.

Juventus could, however, block a deal from going through as the club reportedly have a good relationship with Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola.

Raiola helped Juve sign former Ajax defender Matthijs De Ligt in 2019 despite growing interest from the Barcelona camp at the time.

In addition, when quizzed on the situation with Haaland, Juve’s sporting director Sebastian Kehl told Sky Germany: ‘There is nothing new on this matter. He is in our plans. Erling will return this week and he will be very hungry.

‘He wants to play football, he feels comfortable with us and he will be eager to score many goals.’

Meanwhile, Ronaldo is yet to confirm his plans for the future. According La Gazzetta dello Sport Ronaldo will most likely to leave Juventus for free next summer with no terms agreed for an extension.

The 36-year-old has been linked with a sensational return to either Real Madrid or Manchester United over the past year.

Nevertheless, Juventus are expected to push for a new deal over the next 12 months regardless of their stance with Haaland.
