Search for two surf skiers who went missing in Moreton Bay off Stradbroke Island

Desperate search is underway for two missing surf skiers after they failed to return to shore

  • Two men, aged in their 20s, left Dunwich on Saturday at about 10.30am 
  • Pair were travelling to Cylinder Beach on Stradbroke Island but did not arrive 


A search is underway for two surf skiers who went missing off Stradbroke Island in Queensland.

The two men, aged in their mid to late 20s, left Dunwich near the western side of North Stradbroke Island on Saturday at around 10.30am. 

The pair were travelling to Cylinder Beach on surf skis – a orange and black Vajda, the other a white Epic V8 Pro – but they did not arrive.

The Water Police, Volunteer Marine Rescue, Rescue 500 helicopter and a fixed wing jet have commenced a search for the duo around the South Passage Bar. 

The search is expected to continue into the night as police report the pair do not have any food with them.  

Anyone who has spotted the skis or the missing duo is urged to contact police immediately.
