Raheem Sterling‘s future at Manchester City is reportedly ‘in doubt’ after being left furious at the club’s plans to use him as ‘makeweight’ for Tottenham striker Harry Kane.

The Premier League champions are interested in the England captain after he expressed his desire to leave Tottenham last month.

Sterling, who has two years left on his £300,000 a week contract at Manchester City, was open to talks about an extended deal at the Etihad.

But as reported by the Daily Mirror, the winger is ‘angry’ with the club’s attempts to offer him to Tottenham in a part-exchange for Kane.

Sterling is said to be on a list of players that City would be willing to include in a bid to bring Kane to the Etihad in a cheaper deal.

Manchester City put in a £100m bid for Kane, but the London club value their player higher while Daniel Levy is reportedly planning to keep hold of the striker despite his wishes to leave and a lot of interest in him.

Meanwhile, his England team-mate Sterling had grown more and more frustrated  towards the end of last season due to his game-time under Pep Guardiola reducing.

Sterling and Guardiola are said to have fallen out after the 26-year-old was left on the bench for the win over Southampton in March.

He was then left out of the squad that travelled to Fulham three days later and started just eight of City’s next 15 games.

Sterling did make it back into the starting line-up for the Champions League final against Chelsea.

City lost the game 1-0, and Guardiola is now determined to land a striker after Sergio Aguero left at the end of his contract for Barcelona.

Sterling has made a better start to the European Championships than Kane for England and is currently the only player to score for the Three Lions.

City star Sterling, signed from Liverpool for £49million in 2015, and has scored 93 goals for City in the last four years.
